About the trail
One of Sälen's finest easy-going mountain peaks with sweeping views over the Sälen mountains and the Västerdalälven valley. The Östfjället loop is an easy circular trail of about 9.7 km starting at Sälen's Högfjällshotell. Large parts of the trail follow a wide gravel path, paved walkway or boardwalks, making Östfjället one of the easiest and most accessible mountain hikes in Sälen. The first section is paved and suitable for both prams and wheelchairs. Along the way the open fell unfolds with views over small mountain lakes, and you pass Sälen Botaniska. The trail continues via Köarskärsfjället and the Östfjället cabin and is part of the Southern Kungsleden (Södra Kungsleden).
